I was able to weave the word "usurp" into a normal work email today. I win. Activities like this make me happy. Reminds me of the time I dropped "exacerbate" in a conversation with a customer service rep. Either the other person appreciates your verbal dexterity or has no idea what you're saying.

Any of my erudite readers have any personal examples?
